Aerial Notes

Drone study, elevated views, airspace notes, aerial photography ideas, flight observations, and the process of learning to work safely and legally from above.

Current path

Working toward Part 107

I’m currently studying for Part 107 certification through Pilot Institute. Right now I’m in the early course material, covering the basics of aircraft theory and aerodynamics — things like thrust, lift, and the forces that make flight possible.

The plan is to work through it steadily over the next month or two. The goal is not just to pass a test, but to understand enough to fly safely, plan properly, and make better aerial photos and videos.

Why No Drone Videos Yet

I have filmed from my drone, but I’m keeping that footage private for now. Because drone footage can quickly move from recreational use into Part 107 territory — especially when tied to public content, business use, promotion, or monetized platforms — I’m waiting until I’m certified before sharing drone footage publicly.

Current Course

Studying through Pilot Institute as part of the path toward becoming a Part 107 certified drone operator.

Current Focus

Working through the early aircraft theory material, including the basics of aerodynamics, thrust, lift, and how aircraft actually stay in the air.

Expected Timeline

The goal is to work steadily through the course over the next month or two, building understanding instead of just cramming answers.

Views from above

Elevated views, wherever they come from

A small collection of higher-perspective photos: aircraft-window views, tall-building shots, overlooks, future drone images, and anything else where the world looks better from above.

Private practice footage Held for now

Drone photos and video are staying private until Part 107 certification is complete and public use can be handled properly.

Part 107 Study

Working through the Remote Pilot certification material, starting with the building blocks: aircraft theory, flight forces, weather, airspace, charts, and safe decision-making.

Drone Practice

Flight practice, camera control, smooth movement, shot planning, legal boundaries, and building habits that keep the aircraft, the footage, and everyone nearby in one piece.

Views From Above

Drone footage, plane-window views, tall-building perspectives, overlooks, and any other moment where the world looks better from higher up.

Aerial Ideas

Future photo and video concepts, small-town flythrough planning, location notes, route ideas, and visual storytelling from a higher angle.

Coming notes

Building the aerial notebook

This section will grow as the studying, flying, planning, and camera work develop. Some notes will be technical, some visual, and some will probably be reminders that the sky has rules and the FAA owns a very large clipboard.
